Advanced Mobile Location Centre (A-MLC)

The Mobile Arts Advanced Mobile Location Centre (A-MLC) is a state-of-the-art combined location and presence server. The turn-key location server functionality incldues both GMLC and SMLC functionality, and can be used in all GSM, UMTS and CDMA networks.

The A-MLC provides both network-based, terminal-based, probe-based and hybrid location methods to provide reliable, accurate location and presence information to applications.

Location Methods

The location methods supported by the A-MLC include:

3GPP (GSM, UMST):

  • CAMEL Cell Global Identity (CGI) based location

  • LCS Enhanced CGI (CGI, TA and NMR/RTT) based location

  • LCS Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) based location

  • Probe-Based Enhanced CGI (CGI, TA and NMR/RTT) based location

Open Mobile Alliance (GSM, UMTS, CDMA, CDMA 2000):

  • Secure User Plane (SUPL) Enhanced CGI (CGI, TA and NMR/RTT) based location

  • SUPL A-GPS based location

Features

The Mobile Arts A-MLC provides an extensive set of features, such as:

  • Support for Mobile Originating, Network Initiated and Mobile Terminating location

  • High resolution location calculation, including support for Enhanced CGI based location using advanced methods, such as particle filtering (using maps), Kalman filtering (stochastic location estimation) and self-tuning (neural network)

  • Open client API based on OMA MLP

  • Periodic triggered location reporting

  • Zone-based and proximity-based event triggered location reporting

  • Location of home subscribers as well as visiting subscribers

  • Location of mobile terminals in both active and passive state

  • Determination of terminal presence status (idle, busy, not reachable)

  • Full support for the OMA location roaming architecture

  • Integrated Push Proxy / WAP Gateway functionality for delivery of OMA SUPL push-messages to the terminal via the collocated Mobile Arts SMSC functionality
